Fishing Week day 3

 Kochi, India. 2010

These enormous cantilevered contraptions are known as chinese fishing nets and are found almost exclusively in India. It's thought the Chinese may have introduced the technique to Kochi hundreds of years ago before going home and discovering a much better way of catching fish.

Fortunately many tourists are willing to be charged for the experience of helping pull up the nets, which works out nicely for the fishermen, who earn more money for putting less effort into not catching many fish.
