Goats survive anywhere because they can eat things that humans would only consider using for clothing or building materials.

About four years ago, in a country quite far away...

Hitch in the plan
The rugged and sparsely populated Vesterålen islands are situated inside the Arctic Circle in northern Norway. They are staggeringly beautiful but, with hindsight, probably not the best place to try to hitchhike.

Tai Chi
Haikou, China. 2011
The West has every reason to be worried about China. Our governments owe them a lot of money and even their old people could kick the sh*t out of us. Luckily the folks in these pictures are far too friendly to fight against real people.

Green Thai Curry
Chiang Mai, Thailand. 2006
As anyone who's watched enough Ray Mears will know, there's almost nothing you can't do with bamboo. It's even possible to cook a delicious meal in bamboo pans and then eat it on the bamboo balcony of your bamboo jungle-hut using cutlery made entirely of bamboo.

Fishing Week day 5
Palolem, India. 2010
After centuries of ingenuity our human fishing techniques have now become so clever that we have successfully caught almost all the fish in the sea.

Fishing Week day 3
Kochi, India. 2010
These enormous cantilevered contraptions are known as chinese fishing nets and are found almost exclusively in India. It's thought the Chinese may have introduced the technique to Kochi hundreds of years ago before going home and discovering a much better way of catching fish.
Fortunately many tourists are willing to be charged for the experience of helping pull up the nets, which works out nicely for the fishermen, who earn more money for putting less effort into not catching many fish.
Fishing Week: the ones that got away
Due to a busy week of shooting and editing I didn't manage to put up many fishing-related posts last week. So I'll put them up this week.
